Hello everyone!
I figured my first entry should be a sort of introduction of who I am and what I am working towards.
My name is Ryan Reid and I live in Howell Michigan. Most of my life I have been pretty bad about staying in shape. I was always that guy that stayed skinny without trying, well as the years piled up, that changed. I may only be 24 now, but I want to get a jump on my fitness and keep what I have. Rather than wait until I am forced to make changes or live with the consequences.
In the last two years of my life I have been making many changes in my lifestyle. The biggest being I quit smoking. I smoked anywhere between a pack or two a day near the end. Quitting was the hardest thing i have ever done, but also the best. Two years ago i couldn't even imagine running for anything, let alone fun...but here I am now.
Seven months ago I learned that I was going to be a father. I of course had that period where I sort of freaked out and had no idea what i was going to do. Luckily that time passed quickly and i started changing everything around in my life so that i would be in the best shape, both physically and financially, to raise a child. So far things have gone about as well as I could hope for. A few months ago I started running on the treadmill and found that I really enjoyed running. The burn, the feeling of accomplishment, everything about it. From that day on I was hooked.
Since then i have been pushing myself forward with my running. I have been going further and faster than I could have ever imagined I could. I am no track star...but I feel I am doing good and I enjoy what I am doing. So today I set a goal, my personal Everest.
I Ryan Reid WILL Run a Marathon!
And I invite you along for the ride.
I will post regularly about my progress, my problems and my realizations about running. I hope you will give me suggestions and help along the way. It won't be easy...but nothing worth doing ever is.
